An improved variant of the GM II, which had been the Federation's primary MS since the Gryps War. Normally equipped with multiple missile launchers and used to provide cover fire, it has also been used as a high-mobility melee-focused MS by removing the heavy weaponry and using a high output backpack of the same make as the Gundam MK-II. The GM III was born in a turbulent era, during regime change after the Gryps War and Anaheim Electronics' takeover of MS development. Used as only a stopgap until Anaheim completed their own next gen MS, it was later replaced by the Jegan. However, machines like this one customized for a different use still saw use for quite some time. An MS with the same specs is also confirmed to have fought the Zeon remnants on the surface with a high-powered beam javelin during the Laplace Incident.
*Heavy Attack: When Selecting a chargeable melee weapon, activate by holding and releasing the attack button. Performs an attack with improved power and melee priority and reduced reaction. Also ignores buffer damage reduction and pierces shields.
