The Gundam development plan was part of the Federation's rebuilding plans after the One Year War. In order to create the strongest MS, raid MS developed by the Principality of Zeon were used as references in the creation of this MS that enabled the latest technology of its era. Its Sturm Booster that was integrated into the propellant tanks exhibited outstanding acceleration. It was also equipped with a high-powered long-range beam rifle while nonetheless boosting excellent melee capabilities. It was said that it could suppress and exterminate the enemy through forceful assault. However, since some of its design concept were identical to that of the GP01, it was removed from the Gundam development plan. Unofficially, however, Anaheim Electronics continued development on its own. Unbeknownst to most, after the exterior armor and some of the components were replaced, Cima Fleet received the new mobile suit under the name "Gerbera Tetra" via a backroom deal with Anaheim Electronics.
