The Principality of Zeon impatiently deployed new mobile suits to battle without first considering the operation aspect to the point the veteran pilots were having a difficult time getting accustomed to new suits. In order to resolve this issue, the Zeon forces decided to carry out the United Maintenance Plan, which led to the standardization of parts, equipment and control systems. This was the final variation of the mass-production mobile suit Zaku II, developed by the Principality of Zeon at the end of the One Year War as part of the United Maintenance Plan. While realizing standardization, this machine utilized an abundance of amassed battle data and retained the Zaku II's famed versatility, but further improved overall performance. Also known as the B type, aside from its unique head shape, it didn't differ dramatically from the Zaku II. Because only a handful were ever produced, there are almost no records on it during the One Year War. Its existence was only officially confirmed when the Zeon Remnants used it to attack the Torrington base during the Laplace War. It is said that it was originally assigned to the Zeon home front defense team.
